چکیده

Karez systems are ancient hydraulic works that use underground waterways to divert water by gravity and have historically been popular in arid regions across Central Asia. undergone thousands of years development used for irrigation 40 countries worldwide. Although there different opinions about the origin karezes, role significance karezes similar. The Turpan Basin is a relatively closed inland basin China, far from ocean, with very dry climate high evaporation rates. However, due ice snow meltwater Tianshan Mountains, groundwater resources abundant. Karezes an important support Turpan’s farming civilization tourism culture represent great masterpiece how people areas natural environment. This study historical CORONA images visually interpret karez system 1970s compared it 2020 analyze spatial distribution variation characteristics karezes. impact land use/land cover change on was also analyzed. results showed 1970 2020, as population grew, increase arable built-up while area decreased. In general, areas, decrease area, number electromechanical wells combined reduce systems. Based image 1970, possible visualize shaft existed but did not exist 2020. Some shafts bare terrain were truncated when type changed land. where disappeared located approximately 87.77 square kilometers. Through changes this research provides valuable reference construction conservation or urban planning. investigation studying excavating cultural value

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature

The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...

Land cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing

Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...

Modeling Land-use and Land-cover Change

Models are used in a variety of fields, including land change science, to better understand the dynamics of systems, to develop hypotheses that can be tested empirically, and to make predictions and/or evaluate scenarios for use in assessment activities. Modeling is an important component of each of the three foci outlined in the science plan of the Land-use and -cover change (LUCC) project (Tu...

Impact of land use change on soil erodibility

Vulnerability of soil separates to detachment by water is described as soil erodibility by Universal Soil Loss Equation which can be affected by land use change. In this study it was attempted to quantify the changes of Universal Soil Loss Equation K-factor and its soil driving factors in three land uses including rangeland, rainfed farming, and orchards in Babolrood watershed, northern Iran. S...
